Sangria
At this time of year when we have one of those hot summer days we often want a drink thats refreshing and thirst quenching but not too alcoholic.
This is where Sangria comes into its own originating from the heat of sunny Spain it is a delightful combination of wine and fruit and this Sangria recipe shows that it's really easy to make.
Prep Time: 10 mins (30 including chill time)
Makes: 6 servings
Ingredients:
1 bottle of red wine
1/2 litre of sparkling elderflower or Schweppes elderflower tonic
2 tablespoons brandy
1 orange, sliced or 2 clementines, segmented
A dozen sliced strawberries and a few raspberries
A small handful of mint leaves to garnish
Method:
Pour the wine and tonic into a sangria jug or large pitcher
Add all the fruit and top with the mint
Stir well with a wooden spoon
Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes, with glasses
Serve over ice in large chilled glasses
